TIF Challenge/Lovely Post/Cyber Fyber/Dramas at Home

TAKE IT FURTHER CHALLENGE
January Journal Quilt
(The Disorder of a Spring Garden)

Well, here's my finished journal quilt for the TIF challenge. I'm really happy with the end result, even though I really didn't do much more with it than mentioned in the last post. I added some artificial silk flowers, a golden spider's web in the corner, and zapped the organza back. For the binding I just zig zagged on some lovely yarn. This is also going to be my January journal quilt for the ANZ Art Quilters Group - "The Disorder of a Spring Garden".

LOVELY POST

I received this gorgeous Garden Fairy as a lovely surprise post from Elizabeth! I admire Elizabeth's work so much, and visit her blog regularly. Now I'm the lucky owner of this little fairy...... She certainly came at a time when I needed her most!! Thanks Elizabeth!!!!

CYBER FYBER

I swapped an ATC and Postcard with Susan who has started up a wonderful site CYBER FYBER, where you can swap an ATC or Postcard with Susan, and then receive the same back. Now, what an opportunity to be the lucky owner of some of Susan's wonderful art. She is a very talented artist!!!!! Thanks Susan...... Make sure you go and take a look at the blog where this is all happening - what a fantastic idea. (Sorry about the ATC photo! The ATC is just gorgeous, with beautiful hand stitching.)

DRAMAS AT HOME

Had some drama here at home, which explains why I haven't been around much. I also may not be able to post too much either - or visit many blogs - but I will certainly do my best!!!

My husband, Phil, was hit by a car whilst riding his push bike. He's in hopsital with lots of cuts and bruises (some worse than others), and a broken hip. The surgeons are happy with the hip operation and say Phil should get full use of his leg. So we're very happy!!! But now, I have my DH home and not able to put any weight on his leg for 12 weeks. 12 WEEKS!!!!!!!!! So, doing any creating will depend on how "Nurse Dianne" copes with Phil. Plus work, kids and all the other stuff...... Hopefully we'll catch up again soon!

I think your poor husband is in the best hands now - I hope the recovery go quickly. Take care of yourself in all this - at least a short time EVERY day!!Good luck to both!
PC: This was very strange - the word verification letters I have to write make a Norwegian word - and it means a lovely place for recovery, a cottage at the seashore!!

Hope he heals up quick & isn't too big a pain in the bum i the meantime <G> Love your wee garden. I signed up for the postcard swap too, can't wait til mine gets here!

Your fabric piece is lovely. But I am so sorry to hear about your husband. This will be a trying time for all of you. I hope he heals quickly and completley and your life gets back to normal. I remember when I had a hip replaced when I was 48, and my poor hubby having to help me do the simpliest things like shower and wash my hair-LOL! I think I felt sorrier for him than I did for myself.

Your ATC's cards and the fairy are beautiful. Love the Journal quilt. It is so beautiful. The title fits it perfectly.

Dianne, I think it's amazing that you managed to get any stitching done at all if you've had DH at home! My own DH has a sciatic nerve problem, and has just had his 3rd surgery in November. From Fathers Day when he went to hospital in pain till January he was literally lying around the house as ordered. It was difficult to get anything done, let alone stitch ! There were always snacks to prepare, things to fetch, errands to run for him (by bus! since I don't drive)... you get the picture, LOL. Not that I'm complaining, MUCH! Men just don't make great patients usually, they get easily bored and frustrated unless they have a sedentary hobby. Try to escape regularly to stitch is my best advice,
wishing you both all the best in recovery,

Oh, dear! Having just finished a few weeks being Nurse Janet I know what you're talking about! I do hope your hubby has a speedy recovery and all heals well.

Your fiber goodies are beautiful and lots of luscious purple.

(I'll send JD over since you're having to play nurse. He'll keep you occupied!!)

My sister in Seattle is 4 weeks ahead of you, in the same situation. Her DH broke his hip while skiing, 3 pins in it. When I had my hip replaced, I could walk on it right away, but yes - raise the bed, raise the toilet seat, half a transfer bench for the shower. And be prepared for an impatient patient. *S*..good luck to you both.

Dianne - I really love your TIF/Seasons quilt - I'd love to see it in person (maybe we could catch up when I come over to Melb for the Art Retreat in May?)- it looks so textural. Love your CY trades - I'm still working on mine.
